Laurie’s Email Updates

Over the course of seven years, my mother sent out emails to family and friends updating them on her cancer treatment. Through these emails, she was able to share her journey and encourage others facing their own trials. As I go through these emails again, I will be sharing them here.

This article by John piper was a great source of comfort to my mother and influenced how she viewed and treated her cancer. It has since been updated, but it’s message remains the same.

Hospital Helps

My mom put this list together in hopes it would help others in similar situations. It’s a list of items she found helpful during her cancer treatment. She used it when putting together care packages for friends before they had surgery or treatment. Not everything on the list is necessary, but it’s a place to start and can easily be personalized.

Cancer Prevention for Life: The Long Talk You Never Had With Your Doctor by Tina M. Passalaris M.D.

Out of all the books my mom read on cancer, this is one of the few she would recommend. It is written by one of mom’s old oncologists with “a balanced outlook of both natural and medical means,” along with specific prevention strategies for each cancer and screening recommendations.
